A great feat for our women’s volleyball team, who won another Polish championship medal, this time silver, last Tuesday, 22 April 2025. Remember that it has been only once (last year) that the ‘Łódź Squirrels’ did not manage to stand on the Championship podium since the 2017/2018 season. A huge round of applause to our players and the coaching staff for fighting until the very end and for the incredible sporting emotions!
The 2024/2025 TAURON League season was demanding for our volleyball team, both in terms of physical and mental form. Although they did very well in the main part of the season, finishing second, they were entering the play-offs with a new manager, which could mean a major challenge for any team. Alessandro Chiappini was replaced by Zbigniew Bartman, a well-known personage to Polish volleyball fans, making his debut in a team managing role.
The start of the knockout phase was harsh, as we were defeated by Stal Mielec in the first leg of quarter-finals. Fortunately, the new manager quickly built a good rapport with his team to lead them to overcome Mielec team, followed by defeating the PGE Grot Budowlane Łódź in the semi-final Łódź derby. The Squirrels displayed their high skills, prowess and determination during those ties, and were ecstatic to check in at the Tauron League final. Only then did they have to acknowledge the superiority of the Rzeszów team.
This is another great achievement for our women’s volleyball team, the seventh Polish championship medal in the last eight seasons. It is worth noting that ŁKS Commercecon Łódź has won gold twice over this period – in 2019 and 2023.
Congratulations to the whole team, the coaching staff and we are grateful to the fans for your unwavering passionate support for the girls throughout the season! We are proud to have been part of such a beautiful sporting history of the club for 10 years now.
