
What was the highlight of November’s men’s styling? A moustache, of course! This could be seen at our construction sites and company corridors. But the men’s Team Commercecon wore the moustache proudly not for style, but… to show care for themselves, solidarity and mutual support. At Commercecon, male cancer prevention is not a taboo subject or catwalk fashion, but a trend to stay fit in our company is all we care for in this campaign.
This is another year that we at Commercecon are joining the Movember campaign – a global campaign to raise awareness of men’s cancers and encourage men to have preventive screenings. The campaign was launched in 1999 in Australia, and today almost the entire world participates. Its symbol, the moustache, becomes the most fashionable item of men’s styling in November.
The statistics not to be ignored
The number don’t lie: male cancer is one of the most serious health problems men are facing today. According to the World Health Organisation, prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed male cancer worldwide. In Poland, it already accounts for around 20% of all malignant male cancers. This means that one in five male oncology diagnoses is specifically related to the prostate. Testicular cancer, on the other hand, is a rare cancer in the general population, but extremely dangerous for young men, as it is the most common malignant tumour in the 20-35 age range. And it is critical to know that detecting a tumour at an early stage of the disease significantly boosts the chances for complete recovery.
