The renowned scientific conference Computer Methods in Mechanics (CMM 2025) took place from 8-11 July 2025 in Łódź, Poland. Rafał Bredow, Eng. Ph.D, Commercecon team member and structural design expert, took part in the event.
CMM is one of the most important scientific events in Central and Eastern Europe dedicated to modern computational methods and digital technologies used in engineering mechanics and construction. This year’s conference was organised by the Łódź University of Technology, in collaboration with the Polish Society for Computational Mechanics, the Mechanics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and ECCOMAS. Each year, the event attracts academics and practitioners from all over the world: engineers, researchers and industry leaders who share a common goal of developing cutting-edge solutions in civil, materials and structural engineering.
We are proud to announce that Rafał Bredow, who has been working with us for many years and is an expert in building structure design, participated in this year’s CMM. Rafał not only was member of the conference organising committee, but also delivered his keynote speech, entitled 𝘋𝘺𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘮 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵”. In his address, he presented a methodology for determining the reliability of a structure subjected to dynamic forces. In his study, he proposes a measure for determining the reliability index of a structure based on the concept of probabilistic entropy, and then compares it with a probabilistic analysis performed according to the recommendations of the Eurocode design standards.
Collaboration between science and business is not just a trend today, but a necessity. In a world where technology and innovation play a key role in the development of the economy, combining academic potential with industrial experience offers tangible benefits. Commercecon has been consistently living this idea for years, working with the Łódź University of Technology, which is our natural partner in knowledge exchange and building relationships with the academy community. Each year, we receive students from the Faculty of Construction, Architecture and Environmental Engineering for paid placements, giving them the chance to experience work in our industry hands-on.
Commercecon participation in an expert role at CMM 2025 is proof that we keep up with innovative construction solutions by constantly seeking opportunities for growth – not only through ongoing projects, but also by sharing knowledge, supporting research and actively participating in important educational initiatives.
Our most sincere congratulations to Rafał!
