Implementation of the project for Katoen Natie enters decisive phase
Last December, we informed on our another project launched for our long-standing customer Katoen Natie, a Belgian provider of innovative logistics solutions. We have been erecting the third high-bay warehouse and further expanding the silo bank at the Kutno logistics centre.
The construction work we started at the end of last year in Kutno is reaching the final straight. Importantly, we are constructing a high-bay warehouse as part of the expansion of the Katoen Natie logistics centre. The new building is 15.5 metres tall and its total floorage will be nearly 16,000 square metres. In addition to the warehouse space, it will also include a latest tech two-storey office and staff welfare area.
As a general contractor, we are delivering the site as a build-to-own project. The project also includes the further development of the silo bank, as we are erecting further 40 tanks, which are central to the operations of the Belgian operator. Our cooperation also involves our responsibility for site development, including internal road network realignment to link the new warehouse with the other components of the Kutno hub.
We will have completed 90% of the warehouse envelope by April, and continue to install flashings. We are fitting plumbing and specialist fire sprinkler systems, which have been covered by the design to address the type of materials stored in the facility. Meanwhile we are also carrying out work around the new building, laying the base and sub-base layers for internal roads, and installing further silos with the use of highly specialist construction plant and equipment.
The expected completion date has been set for the middle of this year.
The expansion of Katoen Natie’s Kutno centre follows an ambitious growth plan announced several years ago to utilise the steadily increasing demand for the specialist logistics solutions offered by the company. Also a noteworthy news, our customer has recently won the prestigious Outstanding Company BEPOLUX Award by the Belgian – Polish – Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce for contributing to the development of relations between the countries.
